How to lose weight with no execise

by A.T. McKain

How to lose weight with no exercise when most weight loss programs advise some kind of exercise alongside modifying your diet. And without doubt, exercise does make a difference if you can keep it up.

The trouble is that most of us start out fully committed to an hour long gym program three times a week and then find it's all too much. Either we don't have the time or we don't have the energy or we just can't be bothered with the getting there, getting changed, getting going - not with all the other things going on in our life. It's simply one big effort too far when we're tired and overloaded.

If is one of those days when you just can't see your way to a full-blown exercise session (and even if every day is one of those days) make yourself feel better and use up some calories with mini-activities. This can be as little as:

a walk around the block

taking a single flight of stairs instead of the lift

spending 5 or 10 minutes tidying your home

walking over to chat to someone in your office instead of emailing

kicking a ball with your children in the garden before tea

making alternate circles with your feet while talking on the phone

holding your tummy in when you're stuck in traffic

getting up to switch over the channel instead of using the remote

Every time you do something, anything at all, you're adding to your fitness bank and burning calories. Try to do something whenever you think about it during the day. And give yourself a pat on the back each time you do it.

Lose weight with no exercise is a hard way to do that. But if u fill your time with difrent house work activities this weight loss will show up in a few weeks.

Vitamin Mineral Weight Loss Diet

by A. McKain

Vitamin mineral weight loss diet seems simple. A calorie is a calorie. Eat too many... gain weight. Eat fewer calories... lose weight. Not so complicated, right? Wrong, for those who believe weight loss is more than a calorie equation. Everywhere you turn there are so-called new-and-improved ways to lose weight. Americans spend $33 billion annually on weight loss foods, products and services, according to the American Dietetic Association. With that amount of spending, it's no surprise there are an overwhelming number of "fad" diets and other weight-loss products on the market.

When considering a weight-loss plan, start with this proven formula: Successful weight-loss programs incorporate changes to achieve long-term healthy lifestyle behaviors, including eating practices and daily physical activity. Consult your physician and registered dietitian. They will help design a plan that is safe and meets your needs. In general, be wary of diets that offer the following:

* Fast weight loss

* A quick fix

* Claims that sound too good to be true

* Foods defined as "good" and "bad"

* Less than 1,000 calories daily

* A required vitamin mineral weight loss diet/supplement or food product

* Elimination of a major food group (carbohydrates, fats, proteins)

* Lack of long-term randomized scientific studies proving the diet works and is safe. A randomized study distributes participants in a deliberately random way into either the non-tested diet group or the special diet group.

Iron and calcium are some of the vitamins and minerals recommended by the vitamin mineral weight loss diet.

Some groups, such as teenage athletes (particularly teenage women) and women athletes on restrictive diets, may have too little iron in their diets. It is important to get adequate iron, since iron carries oxygen from your lungs to your muscles.

Menstruating women already have high needs for iron, so it is important for the female athlete to get adequate iron. Talk to your health professional about an iron supplement if you feel you are not getting enough iron in your diet.

Foods high in iron include beef, lamb, ham, poultry, veal, and legumes.

Calcium is needed for healthy, strong bones. Weak bones may lead to stress fractures in the short term and osteoporosis in the long term. Most people can get adequate calcium by consuming milk and milk products. Talk to your health professional about a calcium supplement if you feel you are not getting enough calcium in your diet.

Foods high in calcium include milk, cheese, some nuts, yogurt, and certain leafy, green vegetables.

Weight loss may occur with the vitamin mineral weight loss diet. It provides a comprehensive list of foods to consume. It encourages drinking plenty of water too. It is less restrictive than other diets.

Ever Pondered...How Destructive Obesity And Diabetes Can Be?

by Javier Fuller

Ever Pondered...How Destructive Obesity And Diabetes Can Be?

This world is full of injustice. I paid the full air fare for flying from New Delhi to New York. My weight is 70 kgs. The gentleman sitting next to me, almost bursting out of the seat belt, must be weighing about 200 kgs. He has also paid the same amount. Is this not injustice? Why obese people are given this preferential treatment?

All said in good humor! The obese people are to be pitied rather than condemned. They know not what they are doing- how much they are eating. To say it in clear cut terms obesity is extending a direct invitation to diabetes. Not very long ago, diabetes caught hold of the elderly and the aged. Now even the children suffer from diabetes, not the rarest of the rare cases, but quite a good percentage. It is increasing at a rapid pace.

The reason is not far off to seek. The modern mothers think that the easiest way to handle the children is to fulfill their all demands. The chocolates, the pizzas, the salty chips, cold drinks, the processed foods and what not!

The concept of right diet is not known to the children, but even the mothers wish to pretend ignorance, even if they know. Their placement of love for the children is wrong. Soon the children look like balloons and one fine day, when the doctor tells you that your kid has diabetes, you are shocked...How that can be...?

Various studies reveal that over 20 % of the world population is obese. You suffer, and you pass on this heritage to your children. You spend the whole day sitting at the office, with mental labor, without any physical labor and once you enter the house, tired and exhausted, you refuse to go out of the drawing room. Changing the channels, by push of the remote button is only your physical exercise.

Why blame anybody when you are declared to be a diabetic patient? Your diabetes is your own creation.

"Doing nothing is not an option" they say. "In 1989 a study found that five per cent of children were classified as obese. By 1998, the figure had almost doubled. The incidence of obesity is also increasing with age; according to an English survey in 1996, approximately 17 per cent of 15 year olds are obese," says Dr Penny Gibson, Consultant Paediatrician and Adviser on childhood obesity for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

There is conclusive proof that obesity is one of the strongest causes of diabetes. Unless something tangible steps are taken all over the World, by premium Organizations like World Health Organization, the day is not far off, when we shall have diabetic families, from the child to the grandfather!

Diet Pills: Tremendous Temptation, Huge Frauds

By Dana Scripca

The promises of diet pills or dietary supplements have almost always proved to be false and misleading. Huge scams were revealed when false commercials and untruthful claims were made public by producers and/or distributors.

False campaigns

More than 50 percent of Americans and Canadians are overweight or obese. More than a half the advertising campaigns for diet pills and dietary supplements are intentionally false or fail to reveal the truth, according to the FTC. This enormous proportion reveals the dimensions of this money-generating industry. Consumers in North America spend more than $35 billion each year on weight-loss products.

The FDA investigated 300 weight-loss ads from the radio, television, the Internet, magazines, newspapers, e-mail and direct mail. The FDA report concluded that some ads promised significant results without surgery, diet or exercise. Other companies claimed that taking their product would be enough for a quick weight loss. There was no need to eat less or diet. Just take pills.

Fraudulent schemes

The main frauds:

1. Manufacturers promise that their pills will deliver spectacular results, without any effort or exercise. Diet pills are presented as miracles. Just a few mention the FDA-approved diet pill.
2. They fail to admit completely and honestly the risks and side effects.

Many scams have been revealed so far. Here are a few examples:

* Bentley-Myers and three weight-loss products Zymax, MillinesES (both containing ephedra), and Serotril (containing St. John's wort) were brought under an intense spotlight when the FTC filed a federal court complaint. The FTC alleged that these diet pills caused rapid and substantial weight loss without diet or exercise and with no side effects. An additional charge referred to another dietary supplement, CartazyneDS, containing glucosamine. This was promoted as having the ingredients to cure arthritis and rebuild cartilage in just a few days.

* CortiSlim Lawsuit July 2004 Some CortiSlim TV commercials claimed that the human body is able to manage and normalize weight through Cortisol, the stress hormone. Charging the producer and distributor, public health officials argued that this supplement has no substantiated scientific support.

* Metabolife supplement and brain damages A jury in Houston awarded $7.4 million to a woman who suffered brain damage in a stroke, as a consequence of taking the Metabolife supplement to lose weight. She had been persuaded by commercials that this supplement was safe and had no side effects.

* Mendacious campaigns for the Ephedra-based supplement Trimspa An American hypnotist, Alex Szynalski, and a former Playboy Bunny (Anna Nicole Smith) joined in a Trimspa commercial which was considered "deceptive advertising" by the New Jersey Attorney General. The hypnotist was accused of luring consumers to his Goen Lose Weight Hypnosis seminars and then tempting them to buy the Trimspa supplements he produced.

* Kava Kava stop sales. Health Canada launched a public warning that this herb, found in supplements and sometimes in food is under suspicion. Its consumption was linked to liver dysfunction and toxicity. FDA warned that the Kava extract is delivered under many other names which are difficult to find on the label (kava, kava kava, kava-kava, kava root, kava-kava root, kavain, kava pepper, kavapipar, kawa, kawa kawa, kawa pepper, kawapfeffer, maori kava, rhizoma di kava-kava, ava, ava pepper, ava root, awa, gea, gi, intoxicating pepper, intoxicating long pepper, kao, Piper methysticum, Macropiper Latifolium, Piper inebrians, Malohu, maluk, meruk, milik, kew, Rauschpfeffer, sakau, tonga, Wurzelstock, yagona, yangona, yaqona, yongona).

* The invisible Zoller laboratories. Intrigued by the name of diet pills suggested to be taken by Britney Spears, somebody tried to identify the producer of Zantrex 3. Zoller laboratories, apparently producing Zantrex 3, were not listed in any database. They were just a firm created by Basic Research, the company distributing Zantrex 3, for fear that its real name would sound too scientific to the public. The confusion induced by this phantom company nevertheless affected the credibility of the company.

Dieting Options - The Atkins Diet

By Lucy Bartlett

When the Atkins diet was introduced, which included a low carbohydrate menu it revolutionalized the dieting world. “Atkins Nutritional Approach” is the philosophy. By eating high-protein and high fat, loss of weight is assured. The assumption is a limited quantity of simple carbohydrates combined with exercise leads to a healthy life.

Food containing low fat is not the way to control weight and to ensure a healthy lifestyle is the controversial belief of the Atkins diet. Dr. Atkins blames carbohydrates such as potatoes, fruits, pastas and grains for weight gain. According to him, the weight loss could be achieved by reducing carbohydrates. He believes that a diet containing too much carbohydrate makes the body retain fat.

A four-phase diet plan to lose weight is promoted by the Atkins diet programme. Maintaining the weight loss is carried out through the last phase of the plan.

Limiting the carbohydrate grams is encouraged in the Atkins diet. During the first two weeks of the plan, all carbohydrate intake is severely limited and then, carbohydrates are added back to the diet gradually during the later period.

In the induction programme covering the first two weeks, only twenty grams of carbohydrate intake is permitted.

In the ongoing loss of weight phase, which is similar to the first phase, carbohydrate intake is gradually increased along with more food, which includes seeds, some berries and nuts.

Pre-maintenance, which is part of the third phase of the plan wherein the dieter is only ten kilograms away from the target, around five to ten grams of carbohyderate is added to the food as long as weight loss is continued Slowly new foods are added to the menu.

Phase 4 covers maintenance of the target weight for a period of one month. At this juncture, the dieter can add carbohydrate grams to the food without weight gain.

All protein foods such as fish, meat and eggs are permitted in the menu. Olives, cheese, butter and olive oil can be used in limited quantities. Most vegetables including avocado, broccoli, tomato, cucumber and lettuce can sustain the dieter with the required energy. Splenda and other similar artificial sweeteners can also be used.

Baked goods, sugar, sweet peas, corn and other starchy vegetables, potato, pasta and bread, fruits, alcohol and nuts are to be totally avoided in the first phase of the programme. Potato, pasta, fruits, nuts and bread can be added in the later phases of the programme.

The Weight Loss Plan

by Gary Cheung

When most people think about diets, immediately losing weight comes to their mind. Through proper diet, weight training, and 30 minutes of aerobic activity per day, losing weight can be easily achieved. All you have to do is create a small caloric deficit. There are only three ways of creating a caloric deficit.

One way to create a caloric deficit is to consume les calories than your body needs. Another way is to expend more energy through exercise than your body requires. The last way is to do a combination of the first two ways.

If you accumulate 3,500 calories, you will gain a pound of body fat. If you lose 3,500 calories, you will lose a pound of body fat. So to lose a pound per week, you only need to create a 500 calorie deficit each day. Losing 2 pounds per week, you need to create a 1,000 calorie deficit per day.

I know that this does not sound like a whole lot. But remember that you did not put on the excess weight over night.

Working with weights, and doing your cardio tends to stimulate your basal metabolic rate (BMR). For those who do not what BMR means, it is just a measurement of energy required to keep the body functioning at rest. The actual caloric deficit count in a training situation can be somewhat higher than the actual number of calories required completing a set amount of activity.

Most people fail to achieve weight loss because they fail to plan out their diets and their exercise. All you have to do is sit down the night before and write down when are you going to work out, and when are you going to eat. Planning out your meals is a little harder and requires a little more time. But remember that if you truly want to lose weight come up with a plan of action in order to achieve your desire weight.

Ten Things you can do to Improve your Diet

by Lauren McGinley

Eating! Who doesn't like to eat? I personally like eating some things more than others...say like, ice cream. :) Seriously though, we need food to fuel our bodies, just as gas and oil fuel cars. I'm afraid that not many people know much about the food they are consuming and whether or not it is actually healthy for them.

These days, most people get their nutrition information straight from the food manufacturers. Now I ask you, is that a good practice? Do you really want to be listening to the very people who stand to make ALOT of money based on what you put into your mouth? I think it's a dangerous thing to do. What about the thousands of ingredients and chemicals that do not even have to be mentioned on labels because they are used in processing? Who tells you about those? Are they really good for you?

Pre-mixed, pre-made, add water, open the can, snip the pouch, microwave. This is the foundation of what serves as an eating plan for many of us. We're taught by commercials to believe that cooking takes too long, that we're all too busy for it. The quicker the better. There's a total lack of nutrition in this pre-mixed/pre-made lifestyle. You're not getting fresh vegetables and all their fabulous vitmains, minerals and enzymes, you're getting powdered remnants of them. You're not eating a varied diet, an important way to get all the vitamins and minerals one needs for optimal health.

1) ELIMINATE ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS If one is looking for a healthy way of eating, eliminating all artificial sweeteners is a great place to start. There's not enough safety information on some sweeteners and too much clear and scary info on others.

http://www.sweetpoison.com/aspartame-information.html http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/

2) ELIMINATE PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OILS A process to lengthen shelf life can shorten your life! Trans Fatty Acids created by hydogenation have been linked to cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Don't risk it!

http://my.webmd.com/content/article/70/81100.htm http://www.recoverymedicine.com/hydrogenated_oils.htm http://www.bantransfats.com/

3) ELIMINATE CORN SYRUPS and HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUPS (HFCS) Linked to obesity and now so very prevalent in just about every food category; tomato sauces, sodas, baked goods, even natural foods. They are also genetically modified. It's cheap, easy to manufacture and it's making us fat and unhealthy.

http://www.antiaginglifeextension.com http://www.leaflady.org/fructose.htm

4) LIMIT PACKAGED FOODS and EAT FOOD IN ITS MOST NATURAL STATE Ultimately, food in packages has more chance of having additives and chemicals. Unnecessary ingredients that can burden your body and decrease your health. You don't need the chemicals, extra salt, sugar and saturated fat that are prevalent in packaged foods.

Today, labeling is very complex. There are many ingredients that are used in processing and manufacturing that are not required to be on the label. You truly do not know what you are getting in some packages. So save the bags, boxes, cans and make your food from scratch.

Eating foods in their most natural state is best. Fresh broccoli (raw and cooked) will get you the most benefit nutritionally but if you can't get fresh, frozen is your best bet. Though be diligent about label reading as some brands again add unnecessary chemicals.

5) ELIMINATE FOOD ADDITIVES; MSG, CHEMICALS IN GENERAL, DYES Chemicals in our foods are not doing us much good. Dyes are made from coal tar (carcinogen). MSG sensitivites are well known. Our bodies are not meant to process a multitude of chemicals. We need to fuel our bodies with proper nutrition and foods that are wholesome and healthy.

http://www.msgtruth.org/ http://www.truthinlabeling.org/nomsg.html http://www.nomsg.com/ http://www.msgmyth.com/ http://www.cspinet.org/reports/chemcuisine.htm

6) ELIMINATE WHITE REFINED PROCESSED FOODS (white flour, white rice, white bread, white pasta) and INCREASE WHOLE GRAINS These refined foods are devoid of nutrition. Empty calories. White flour has only a small percentage of the nutrition of whole grain flour.

http://www.newstarget.com/000441.html http://waltonfeed.com/grain/flour.html

Whole grains on the other hand contain the oils, the bran, and all the vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber nature intended. Whole grains are a fabulous source of fiber which has been shown to reduce colon cancer. Some rich sources are; brown rice, whole wheat, bulghur, millet, buckwheat, rye, barley, spelt, oats, quinoa.

7) EAT AT LEAST ONE SALAD and FRUIT EVERYDAY We should be eating at least 5 servings of fruit everyday. The vitamins, minerals, phytonutritients help protect us from disease.

I've found that by just trying to eat one salad each day that it's enough to keep me eating well. I sometimes will have more but if I follow this one salad rule, it seems to help us eat healthy all day.

8) CHOOSE ORGANIC I read once that the average american eats a pound of pesticides per year. Yuck! Can you imagine the toll that takes on the body (combined with all the other toxins from the environment)? The vitamin and mineral content of organic foods is said to be higher than the conventional counterparts.

http://www.ewg.org/reports/ops/risk.html http://www.elsonhaas.com/articles/article_02.html http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/guides/242 http://www.sdearthtimes.com/et0996/et0996s5.html

9) EAT HIGH QUALITY FATS Essential fatty acids are "essential" to optimum health. If you're not taking an EFA supplement be sure to sprinkle freshly ground flax seeds on salads, oatmeal, in smoothies, etc. One tablespoon of ground flaxseeds a day can and will improve your health. A handful of walnuts is a great source as well. Some take fish oil but we believe the risks are too high.

Fatty Acids and Fish Oil http://www.pcrm.org/health/prevmed/ess_fat_acids.html http://borntoexplore.org/omega.htm

10) EAT 90% FOR NOURISHMENT AND 10% FOR FUN I read this somewhere recently and I thought it really hit home. If you maintain a healthy foundation, you CAN stray and have fun eating those foods that might not be considered so healthy.
